Understanding Motorcycle Insurance Coverage

There are many different aspects to motorcycle insurance coverage that your Colorado insurance agent will be happy to help you with to determine which insurance policy is best for you.

Liability insurance will cover bodily injury to others to pay for their medical costs as well as the injured parties lost wages in the event of an accident for which you are at fault. Liability will also cover property damages and take care of legal fees in the event that a lawsuit is filed against you as a result of an at fault accident. Many states require liability insurance coverage. Ask your Denver insurance broker what the minimum coverage laws are in Colorado.

Collision covers you in the event of an accident in which you hit another vehicle, or another vehicle hits you. Collision also may include coverage of safety apparel. If your motorcycle is leased or financed collision coverage may be required.
Comprehensive covers you for damage to your motorcycle that is caused by something other than a collision such as damage or loss resulting from theft, fire, vandalism, falling objects, storms, floods, and other natural disasters as outlined in your policy. It may also cover equipment or special parts.

Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist Coverage will help with expenses if an accident is caused by another motorist who is either not insured at all, or is not insured enough to cover your own medical costs as well as the medical costs of any passengers on your motorcycle at the time of the accident. It will also pay for damages to your motorcycle and may cover lost wages and other expenses.

Medical Payments will help with medical costs for the policy holder and any passengers in the event of an accident no matter who is at fault.

Towing and Labor will reimburse money spent on roadside assistance.

OEM endorsement will provide equipment and manufacturer replacement parts needed due to a comprehensive or collision loss.
